Boredom!

What do you do to fight boredom? Nothing to do with the Pacer, nothing to do with anything? Maybe meds??? I do everything but still get bored and short with others at times. Your thoughts???

Cabin Fever

by Bionic Man - 2010-01-13 05:01:00

Hey Gman,
You have cabin fever. I get it every year at this time. Pray Punxsutawney Phil doesn't see his shadow. That will mean golf season is just around the corner. Once this snow melts you'll be able to get out and play a couple of rounds. I started playing in March last year. The heated driving ranges don't cut it for me. Spring Training starts in a couple of weeks also so the warm weather is coming.
Hang in there,
Bob

Quietude

by ted - 2010-01-13 07:01:49

I can identify with you. Isn't it funny how we fear the very quietude and serenity that we have been seeking our whole life. A few years ago I was speaking to a very wise man to whom I had mentioned that my life lately seemed boring with each day seeming just like the day before. He said: "Ted, it's the absence of torment" I can deal with craziness and insanity, but tranquility throws me for a loop.

boredom

Some meds can cause a bit of depression which can manifest as boredom and loss of enjoyment of stuff you used to enjoy.

I prevent boredom by overextending myself and constantly running six different directions. I have a short attention span and often do two or three things at once. Hyper is my middle name :o) If I'm stuck on a conference call for any period of time that doesn't require my full attention, you can be pretty sure I'll have a game window open on the computer. I have several hobbies and volunteer a lot- at school, with girl scouts, and an animal rescue group. The volunteering varies depending on the time of year, right now scouts is my life because cookie sales start next week and we have a camp next month. I tend to switch around on the hobbies, get bored with one and move on to another for a while.

And farmville, lol. It's disgustingly addictive. ecf2xtreme, you need another neighbor?? LOL

Boredom Cures

by Nim Rod - 2010-01-14 04:01:11

I have found two sure cures for boredom. Sex or exercise. I also found out that I last a lot a lot longer exercising than I can with the sex. So I walk and I walk and I walk. So what if I wear out a pair of shoes every two months, I ain't bored.

I know excatly what you mean gman

I to have to fight the boredom bug once in awhile. Take a walk, if you have a dog hug and play with him or her, go fishing, fish some more, sometimes i dont know and just stay bored. I think its strange when your working all you can think about is retireing and not working when they telll you cant work all you want to do is go back to work, unbelievable is all I can say.

Out of all the post.... I must agree with one of the post here... I am rarely bored but when the occasion arises... I can always find something to do... exercise in one form or another.

By the way.... I love Farmville as well!

you see i fight for serenity every day as i grew up in chaos and married and lived in chaos so i have to sometimes have a crisis to feel normal. lol i work on serenity everyday. one hour one minute one one second. i am busier now than when i left the work force and worked and educated two children. i sometimes like to do something different and i think we should all have something to look forward to to make our lives less dull but i never or seldom and i bored. hugs jessie i hope this helps
