Had the PM implant on 10/2. I seem to be healing ok. Feet & ankles swollen yesterday and called my cardio. Dr. this a.m. & the nurse said to just put my feet up & stay away from salt. My first appt. w/my heart Dr. is day after tomorrow, Friday, October 9. Today an automated phone call from my cardio/EP Dr. office left a message on my answering machine to remind me of my appt. in the "nuclear study area" on Friday. I thought I was just going in for my first check-up since the PM/Ablation. Does anyone have any idea what this new thing is to me, "nuclear study" and what can I expect on Friday when they do this? What does this "nuclear thing" mean/involve? I seem to be at a loss on anything/everything since before my PM/ablation, and I still do not know what procedures will/are taking place. Can someone explain to me what I will be doing and what is expected of me? I am trying to be calm ~ Carolyn

It may be a nuclear stress test - I had one done after my PM implant. Took about 3 hours. As "gle" said - pictures of heart, injection, stress test, pictures after stress test. Not a bad test - just a bit long and boring boring boring - suggest you take a good book :-)

At age 20, I will be getting a pacemaker in few weeks along with an SA node ablation. This opportunity may change a five year prognosis into a normal life span! I look forward to being a little old lady with a wicked cane!
Nuclear Study

What i had was a nuclear stress test. They took x-rays of my heart at rest and then gave me an injection that contained a nuclear chemical to dlalate the arteries right after the heart has been under stress. I am not certain that this is what will be done, but this is what was done to me.
The only difference is they called it a nuclear stress test.
It's not anything to be concerned about if this is the case.- Gregger
