edema after procedure

My husband had a pacemaker procedure done 4 days ago..His general health seems to have improved except for the edema..We weigh every morning and he has not lost any of the edema..He is on lasix but I thought with the heart pumping efficiently the edema would improve..any thoughts..I have been awake all night worrying about him.

He got the pacemaker because he was being treated for afib of the heart and the medication slowed his heart rate and he could not do with out it because otherwise he went into afib. Was suffering from congestive heart and the pm was our only solution

diagnosis?

Why did he get the pm, and did the dr say the edema would go away? A lot of things can effect edema other than circulation. For instance, I ate a donut last night and now my fingers are like little sausages, fried food and white flour affect me so eating the donut wasn't the brightest thing I've ever done. Anesthesia can do it also, it might take a few days to wear off.

It may take a while.

A pacemaker doesn't necessarily eliminate the symtoms of congestive heart failure. It may improve things, but even so I can take a while.

A pacemaker suddenly quitting is no more likely to happen than you are to be struck by lightening.
