Thumps that weren't there before

(5 weeks post op today. Diagnosed with 3rd degree heart block but episodes would only happen 2-3 times per year).

I am wondering if anyone experienced palpitations, skips "after" the pm that they don't remember having before?

I understand that it could be me just being on high alert for thumps and what not....but I truly feel like I am having skips that I wasn't before.

Is it possible that getting a pm can "cause" these types of things? Like if they had left me alone...these wouldn't be happening?

Thanks,
W

I too had thumping much more frequently after my PM than before. Especially at night when I was trying to go to sleep. Like Sue, I think I was just more sensitive to everything my heart was doing. You learn to trust you pacemaker and believe that it is working. I don't notice it nearly as much now after 3 years, even though I love the iced tea as well.

Don't even start wondering what it would have been like to not get it....you needed it to live. Five weeks is still very new to this. One day you'll realize as you are going to sleep that you haven't thought about your pacemaker all day. Then it will be a week will go by. For me, my PM is another body part I don't really think about anymore.

It gets easier.
