Brittany Murphy

I just read that the 32 year old actress died of cardiac arrest. She is my age. Is anyone else in that age group at all alarmed by this?

We All Die At Sometime

by SMITTY - 2009-12-21 05:12:26

Hi Wenditt,

People pass away at all ages for all kinds of reason, so don't let the fact that you are the same age as Brittany bother you. If if the autopsy should confirm that she died of sudden cardiac arrest, it is entirely possible she was not under the care of a cardiologist. Since you have a pacemaker that says you are being seen by one and unexpected cardiac arrest is less likely to happen to you.

Anyway, it is that time of year when we should all be having a joyous time and not even thinking about morbid things.

Merry Christmas

wait and see

I would wait and see what the cause of the cardiac arrest was before you get too worried. It could be a positive tox screen, or she could have been taking something else that proved lethal. She also looks mighty skinny, and anorexia can cause havoc on all of your organs. Who knows her potassium might of been sky high and caused her heart to stop.
Not to place judgement, but the odds are that she's done something to herself either now or in her lifestyle over the long run than for it to be "natural" causes. Although, who knows maybe she had a family history of sudden cardiac death.

Regardless of the many factors that could have led to her death, I would wait and see what those are before getting too worried.

Things like this do not worry me at bit. The average person might get blood work once a year if they're diligent, they may or may not have ever had an ekg so it's easy for cardiac problems to go undiagnosed even if they've had regular physicals or check ups for insurance. Many that do have symptoms or family history assume they're young and healthy and don't bother getting symptoms checked out. We are not average! We've had the gamut of cardiac tests and there isn't much chance we have any underlying undiagnosed problems. The problems we do have are being treated. If our doctors felt we were at risk for sudden cardiac arrest, we'd have ICD's to prevent it instead of a regular pm.

Hollywood drug overdose

The word around Los Angeles is that this was a typical drug overdose. Drug addicts' lives are usually cut short by cardiac arrest.

A pacemaker completely solved my problem. In fact, it was implanted just 7 weeks ago and I ran a race today, placed first in my age group.
