Relaxation Short Lived

I ended up in the ER this afternoon. My left arm was tingling and I got concerned so I drove over. By the time I got there I was in a full blown panic attack and hyperventalating.

A mess...just a mess. Just can't seem to get a handle on this whole thing. I did realize a lot of anxiety/panic comes with the PAC's. They are hard and un-nerving. They scare me.

I just keep praying I can overcome this.

I am SO sorry to hear this.

I know exactly how you feel if that helps any. I too went thru full blown panic attacks my entire first year.

It is only my unprofessional opinion, but I think you're gonna need some help with this. I know you think you might be able to handle this on your own over time, but how long is too long? The sooner you get help, the better you will feel. I've been in your shoes and prolonged getting help and now when I look back I could slap myself for letting it go for so long.

Praying will probably help but so will the right kind of professional support :)

You're only human and there is a lot of support out there.

I truly truly truly wish you all the best and if ever you need to chat or vent, you can always email me here or if you wish, I will give you my private email address.

Hugs,
Pookie

how to get more alpha waves

by deb3daughters - 2009-12-28 10:12:07

i had panic attacks the first year of my pacemaker too
several of them per day!!!
even had a few ambulance rides to the hospital for them
the heart clinic kept saying there is nothing wrong with your pacemaker! how defensive of them ; )
anyway
one wonderful expert at the heart clinic gave me this wonderful advice-- i could take beta blockers or go see this guy
named larry who was a hypnotherapist/stress manager
so i chose larry and he got rid of my panic attacks in
less than a month. hypnosis just gets rid of some of
your excess beta waves and gives you more of the calming alpha and theta waves that are needed. I have
a third degree heart block had the pacemaker just two years ago asa i had
a serious fainting spell that sent me to the hospital. i have always wondered how did i cope thru the first and second degree heart block with not one single hint that something was wrong ??? my gut feeling is that my brain helped me survive by throwing out some adrenaline every once in awhile to keep my heart pumpin' so when i got my pacemaker i think during the first year my brain kept giving me the gift of adrenaline and boy did i NOT NEED THE GIFT!!!!!
so larry retrained my brain to stop giving me the adrenaline.
if you cannot find a larry in your town then look on the website www.brainsync.com and order one of their tapes. get the ones with alpa and theta waves such as
attract love or increase creativity and write me back if you need help listening to them. good luck
i am so happy with my decision to see larry i hope this will help you too.

THANK YOU

I have 3rd degree heart block too. Was going to call a biofeedback therapist today so see what I could accomplish. Thank you so much for the advise. Today I took down all the ornaments and chucked the tree by the curb! Trying to keep busy so I can't think about what is happening. So far. So good.

This new year can't come fast enough! I hope the biofeedback will be my Larry. I could use a knight in shining armor right now!

This too shall pass

It's been six months since I had to take Xanex for my anxiety attacks. A compassionate conversation with my cardiologist helped me to accept my fate and his prescription of Paxil and Xanex also helped. I'm still on a low dose of Paxil but it's been months since I've needed a fast acting dose of Xanex. I'm sure that with time you will be fine. Definitely seek help, it will make your quality of life so much better. I too, have wondered how I made it through life with 1st and 2nd degree heart blocks, It was when I was hitting the 3rd degree that I became symptomatic. I'm sure that you will be fine, it just takes time sometimes.

You know you're wired when...

Friends call you the bionic man.

My pacemaker was installed in 1998 and I have not felt better. The mental part is the toughest.
