Ugh

Was riding a good right there for a while! Today, the paramedics were called to my school and I was taken away in an ambulance. I am mortified to say the least.

I was shaking, dizzy, heart was racing but no pain and blood pressure was OK.

"It" kept coming in waves. I would get like disconnected for a few seconds where I couldn't even focus on the floor to make it stop spinning. My hands were shaking so hard I couldn't make them stop. My pulse was racing.

In the ER, everything came back normal. Heart good, PM good, pulse good, blood pressure good. Everyone is calling it a panic attack.

My worry is, that they called "it" a panic attack for 15 years and it turned out to be heart block. What if they are wrong again.

I've looked up the symptoms of panic attacks several times and I fit the profile. But I fit it too when I was having heart block.

I'm really down in the dumps right now. I feel like I've had enough. I take 10 steps forward but then 20 steps back.

What if they were wrong...again.

I have hit my limit...I can't take this anymore. This is not living. I'm doing everything I am "supposed" to be doing. I read the Bible, I go to therapy, I take my meds....and I was fine for 4 weeks! I guess the honeymoon is over.

Thanks for listening.

Wendy.....hang in there. Have you ever had your thyroid checked? I can't remember if you told me you did or not. If you have a thyroid problem it can cause stuff like that too.

Wendy, you have come a long way and doing so good. Please do not let this one turn change your direction.

You have only hit a "bump" in the road. This is not a mountain. You will overcome this challenge also. Everyone is so different with their PM. Some people have moutains to overcome every step of the way, and some have only a bump in the road.

I am thinking you might have another cause, like DanaT said, maybe thyroid or another existing off balance, as in hormones. In my mid-20's and healthy, I felt like fainting 2-3 times in about an hour. My GP told me it was just my nerves/all in my head. I insisted on a Nuero Dr. After running all kinds of "head" tests, he also said my nerves/stress was making me feel like faintness (I had been so sure I had a tumor). So, your "bump" in the road could be another cause and not the PM.

Wendy, you don't have to suffer anymore. I went thru similar problems in the past. They said I had general aniexty disorder. After 5 tears I was diagnosed with Afib.
Once they implanted a pacemaker in my chest, no more problems for 11 staright years.
Go to a good univesrity hospital. Get a refferal to see a good electrophyiologist. Ask them to test you for any heart problems or irregular heart beats. If you have heart block thety will treat you correctly. If you have chronic Afib they now how a less invasive procedure to cure it. Yes! cure it. I don't want you to think there is no hope. If the cardio Docs find something ,stick with them forever, even if you have to travel to the city. Please let me know how your doing. You can email me jerrypacemaker@verizon.net Let me know! Get a definitive diagnosis.

Don't give up

I know you've probably had a billion tests but i've got one more you should ask for if it hasn't been done yet. Its called the 24 hour urine test. You basically collect all your pee in a big jug for 24 hours then take it to the lab to be analyzed. It will test to see if you have a pheochromocytoma by measuring adrenalin levels in your urine. That is a benign tumor on your adrenal gland. It is not life threatening but can cause your adrenal gland to give out un-needed bursts of adrenalin which will cause panic symptoms. The test is non-invasive and may give you some answers.

You know you're wired when...

Your heart beats like a teenager in love.
