depends on your diagnosis

Some people are cured with a pm, some feel the same but they are safer. It all depends on why you need it.

If you have a low hr, a pm will probably give you more energy.

If your hr is dangerously low, a pm will save your life and make you feel better.

If your heart pauses, a pm will keep you alive but you may feel the same.

Very simply, the benefits depend on why your a getting a pacemaker. The doctor needs to tell you that and at the same time tell you wha benefit to expect. Benefits can range from having a pacemaker as a backup in the event your heart rate drops to an a dangerously low level to being a life saver. So again, ask your doctor. After you get his/her answer pass it on to the Pacemaker Club members and I'll bet you will get comments, good and bad.

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
