EP study

Had my EP studay today. Procedure went well and they ablated one abnormal area in my ventricle and ablated some abnormal cells around my SA node. Hope it did the trick. After being on bedrest laying flat for 2 hrs after the procedure, the nurse let me go to the bathroom and while in there by artery burst. I pulled the... emerg cord and then had to walk and unlock the door. By the time there nurse was there, the floor and part of the wall was covered in blood and I looked like I had a miscarriage or something because my gown was soaked and my legs were stained red and my socks had to be thrown away. Almost needed a blood transfusion but managed to maintain my blood pressure with a couple bags of saline. Glad its over and just hope it worked. They told me that I don't need to take my beta blocker anymore and just to see if I have any more tachy episodes. If I do, I need to call the office right away and they are going to book me for either an SA or AV node ablation and insert a pacemaker.

So glad you're ok!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Holy cow, girl, that's scary. Fingers crossed the ablation did the trick and you're all fixed.

Thanks everyone.

I'm so glad you had your EP study & that hopefully they have ablated everything. The bleed must have been very scary. After my 2nd EP study in July (& had an ablation too) I had to lie flat for 6 hours. When I was allowed up to go to the bathroom, I too had a bleed from my femoral vein. It never happened after my 1st EP study.

It was very scary for me & I didn't lose as much blood as you. The nurse was great with me, laid me flat & applied the heavy pressure. Then I had to lie flat another 6 hours, luckily it was overnight! The nurse said I probably bled because of the heparin they gave me in the procedure & then they put me on Cloperdogil (Plavix) as well (blood thinner).

A friend of mine had an angiogram a few years ago & bled from her artery when she got up. She ended up with a 3 pint blood transfusion!

I hope your wound is healing well now. And I really hope your ablation has been totally successful & that you have no further problems. I am almost 6 weeks post ablation for focal atrial tachycardia now & I am doing great (apart from problems with very low BP of 85/50!).

Good luck with everything & hope you recover quickly from your ablation.

Best wishes
Janey
