Flying

Hey everyone!! so I have had some good luck in the past couple weeks and ended up winning a trip to london england for 5 days to see pearl jam play! I have not flown with my pacemaker yet, I am 8 months after implant and in the last few months my heart has been beating on its own almost 90% of the time!! I was just wondering if i had to be cautious of anything while flying? im 99.9% confident nothing is going to happen but ya know theres always that little nervousness. I am in good health and hardly even notice my pm. I know the drill for security but just curious about actually flying.

thanks!

You're good to go!
Stay hydrated. Especially with a long flight.
Just tell them at security you have a PM. Have your ID card with you too. They'll do a pat down & you'll be on your way!
Enjoy the concert!!

Have fun!

I love to travel and fly all the time with a pacer. Like Liz(above) said, let the tsa know and they will quickly do a manual check and you'll be on your way.

Lucky you winning a trip!!!!!!!

Just stay hydrated and move your legs and feet around once in awhile when seated for any extended periods of time during the flight itself.

Enjoy your trip!

Take care,
Pookie

Just a normal flight

There is nothing special about flying with a pacemaker other than the security issues.

Before takeoff when they tell everyone to turn off electronic devices they don't mean your pacer. LOL

No problem

I have had my pacemaker since 1996 and since then must have flown thousands of miles. In the last ten days alone, I have flown from Austria to England to Switzerland back to England, back to Austria, on to Germany last Friday and back to Vienna on Sunday night.
The pacemaker is not the problem, it's the delayed flights that are the real hassle.
Enjoy your trip and don't worry. The peacmaker is not a problem!

You know you're wired when...

Your license plate reads “Pacer4Life”.
