Lymphedema

Just wondering who out there has had Lymphedema and how have you treated it and does treatment help significantly or just a little? They say mine is related to the pacemaker pushing on my lymphatic system. It's not severe but hoping it wont get that way if treatments work. Thanks

Hi cfritza....how did your edema thing work out? Interesting related to PM....I had PM installed in July 2011 and am having edema left side from hand to shoulder/neck with no past history of such. It is getting bothersome now...some pain, less range of motion, and numbness in hand. Went to ER recently and they didn't comment other than doing ultrasound on left upper extremity to rule out a clot. Guess I need to see family phys and cardio. any tips or lessons learned on your part?

I’ve got lymphedema in my left arm after PM

I know this is an old post but I have lymphedema in my left arm after my PM was put in this July.  The skin under my left upper and lower arm are swollen and droopy.  I had problems with an IV in the hospital in my left arm and they continued to take BP in that arm even though it was puffy and obviously infiltrated.  Dr also ordered an ultrasound and it ruled out clot.  NOW WHAT??  I googled and read that 100 pure Ginger oil is good for swelling and lymphedema so I’m using it daily and also wearing a compression sleeve for part of the day.  Anyone else have this and what do you do to relieve it?  Sad in Georgia

Responding to Nantastic:

I got lymphedema after PM placement in 2017.  The entire PM procedure went wrong on so many levels and this was just one.  I live with it.  It does not impact me in any significant way except to say I have to wear a larger than normal shirt/ top because my left arm is swollen. Throughout the course of the day I raise my arms over my head to encourage drainage and I do lymphatic self-massage on that arm.

You know you're wired when...

Your pacemaker interferes with your electronic scale.

I love this new part of me, and very, very thankful that this technology exists and I know that it's all only going to get better over time.
