steri strips

One more question... they put steri strips over the incision after the PM was put in... it has been 2 weeks and they are just starting to come off. How long do they usually stay on?
Thanks!
Lisa

Leave them alone

Leave them on there until they start to slough off by themselves. The steri-strips are helping to keep your incision together. The longer you can keep them on the better.

I've even found that steri strips help with discomfort in a freshly healed incision. After my dermabond came off (two weeks) I placed steri-strips across my newly healed incision to help keep it from stretching so much. My incision scar was really sore and the strips seemed to help keep it stable with arm movements, and therefore causing less pain.

Lisa,
My steri strips were on for about 2 weeks total...they got really icky and nasty and were starting to "pull".
I called my EP's office and told them all this and they said i could take them off. Be prepared for those little suckers to be good-n- stuck. Try taking a warm shower to help loosen them! Hope this helps! Terri A.

I've always been told to leave them one for 10 days and then if they haven't come off by themselves to remove them. I did such a good job keeping them dry I don't think they ever would have come off without a little help. I soaked in a bath until them were nice and soft and the pulled off very easily.

Good luck!

let them fall off on their own

They will soon come off of their own accord
