pacemaker/defibralator and auto anti-theft devices

My mother in-law needs both of these in her chest but she is concerned about its resisitance with anti-theft devices on cars or any other places these devices are present.
Can someone please provide any info or input on what she needs to know in this regard? She is very concerned about this. She is 72 years old and would regret greatly giving up driving
Thank you

Not to worry...

I'm surprised they haven't informed you by this point that anti-theft devices shouldn't be a problem.
Nor should Microwaves, stereos, etc.
It's pretty easy too get a list of things to avoid, but it's not that big of deal.
Just make sure she asks questions of her Doctor if she has any concerns like that!!!

The defib and pm are one unit, she will not have two separate devices.

not a problem

The only thing we have to avoid is magnets, and we can get near those if we keep them 6" from our device. We can walk through security monitors in stores but we shouldn't dawdle. New pm's are well shielded so we can safely get on with our lives.

no problem

When I read the title of your post I thought you meant she needed an anti-theft device for the pacemaker.
