What does this mean?

Got pm checked last week, I get it checked every 3 months over the phone. The last report I got was that my pm didn't need to work at all, now my most recent last week said that the pm was working 61% of the time. Does that mean my heart is only working 39% of the time on it's own then? I do have CHF, moderate tricuspid regurgitation, and atrial fib, is this possibly a sign that my heart is on the decline worse then what it has been? Thank you for your time!

wow, I didn't realize that it worked ALL the time...tee hee:)!! I am in understanding of how the pm works but I guess the percentages were confusing me! I just have it read over the phone and really haven't paid that much attention to be honest with you......I'm gonna check into that though. I'm more short of breath and the lady who read it did say she was surprised that my cardio doc didn't have an echo scheduled due to the changes but I just wanted to try to figure it out, I will go see my family dr. as well. Thank you so much for your help!!!

First of all, your heart works all the time ;o) Sometimes the pm helps it out by generating a pulse that causes a beat, but our hearts are still doing the work.

That's a huge change if your condition didn't change and your settings weren't changed. Are you sure you're reading it correctly? A report will usually have 4 numbers- AS, AP, VS, VP. A= atrial, V = ventricle, S= sense (watching), P= pacing

You know you're wired when...

You make store alarms beep.
