New ICD

I got my ICD put in a week ago. Can anyone tell me about how long the site will be sore? I am so scared I will do something to mess it up. I also have other problems that make it hard for me to stand without using my arms. The doctor said I could push just not lift but I am still scared. I also read where a gal had a panic attack on here. I did that too and looked on paper had 3 of symptoms so went to hospital after calling. That is all they could figure out it was. This is all so new to me I am not good with the unknown. Thanks for any info you can give

seems to really depend

After my ICD implant, except for my skin feeling tight and a tendency for me to pull my shoulders in because of the tightness, I didn't have any real pain. I did have issues after it healed, residual pain, but that's subsided for the most part. I still occassionally get a sharp stabbing pain, but it's over quick.

It really depends on each individual. You will see people like me who didn't take any pain meds, and some people take them.

If the pain is severe, I'd see the doc no matter how long it's been. If you have continual pain after say a month + I would definately go back to the doc. From what I have read on the sites, some docs will brush it off, but pain can be very disruptive to your life, so I would push back and make sure if you still have pain they pay attention.

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
