Lead Irritation

Hi fellow pacemaker friends,

Today I have been having what feels like constant strong heartbeats / palpitations. I have had these feelings to a lesser degree before, and mentioned them to my Cardiologist who said that they weren't much to worry about. I told him they mainly seem to happen when I lay or lean on my left side (pm is on my right side)...he then said that it could just be the leads getting slightly irritated by my position as my 3 month post implant check only showed 24 PVC’s in total and my heart rate had barely gone over 120 bpm (I got in trouble for this because I had apparently been taking it TOO easy since the implant, and was told to get back to the gym)!

I do think that I may have slept in an odd position last night with my arm above my head, and I have noticed that I can have these feelings when wearing a particular bra (the one I wore today). I have also been under a considerable amount of stress at work over the past 3 weeks.

Has anyone else experienced this, or been told that leads can cause irritation and the feeling of stronger heartbeats? Or can anyone shed some light on how this might happen?

Thanks.

You are 3 months post-op and can't sleep with your arm above your head? My restrictions were only for 5 weeks and after that it was suppose to be healed enough to sleep in any position, including on both sides and with either arm up under my pillow, etc. I can even go swimming
(above is your quote)

I was told 8 weeks. Even for sleeping with my arm above my head. (Which is still very uncomfortable to even do) It still isn't even comfy enough for me to sleep on my left side. I got my PM 1/26/10
He also said 8 weeks on the swimming. I could get in the water sooner, but no swimming strokes.
Of course everyone is different.
