CRT-D Implanted...finally!

Hello everyone,

First of all, all of you who share your stories on this forum and to those who shared their experiences and advice with me will never be forgotten, this forum made my personal ordeal much more manageable.

Secondly, three days prior to my surgery, I got a prescription for XANAX from my PCP...never had it before. I took my first dose as soon as I got it and from then up until the surgery, what jitters I did have were cut in half...so for me that was good thing. No longer believing I have to be the tough guy...especially when the temp in Denver that morning was about 7below.

The procedure was at 10:00 AM on Wednesday and lasted 2.5 hours, longer than usual because the implantation of the 3rd lead, according to my EP, was technically challenging due to my anatomy, He said he was not 100% satisfied with the third lead implant...but did his professional best and turned it on. He said we'd get a better ideal of how the SYNCH is working once I have my ECHO a month from now.

I was released the next day, drained and in some pain from the procedure; however, I walked out of the hospital laughing with two nurses, feeling appreciably better then when I arrived huffing and puffing. Then the temperature warmed up and the sun has shined every day since...trusting that is a good omen.

I was implanted with the BOSTON SCIENTIFIC "COGNIS."

Thanks again,

Ron

Glad to hear the Xanax helped. I'm 12 weeks post op and still on it everyday. I have PAC's that leave me a little rattled plus the whole adjustment to the pm has been quite difficult.

Glad to hear your ok...and a little warmer!

Xanax

Nothing wrong with a Xanax for a few days although there are better drugs for anxiety if you have to have something. But please don't fall in love with Xanax. It is very seductive and can turn you into a zombie. Benzos are highly addictive and because of their "half-life" are difficult to kick. Best of luck to you.
