Looking forward to a new year and feeling good:)

2 months ago I had to get a PM becuz of a slow heart beat
I am doing better..but there are still little quirky things going on
so let me ask all of you...once in awhile I get dizzy..once in awhile I get SOB...and once in awhile my legs get achy..and once in awhile my anxiety kicks in... when all these things
happen my pulse stays the same..but I still feel weird...last visit was in Nov 09 Dr put my settings for the high at 140 and for the low 50..the other day my pulse dropped to 48 PM kicked in 76 which is where it usually is all the time now with the PM..so I guess I just need to know if you all have had these little stuff going on too? and if so when do things settle down and you can live somewhat normal? or do I have to get my PM adjusted again? I have a Medtronic PM dual for AV Block..I am thankful for my PM and look forward to getting better as the months go along here..and am trying to stay positive...with the help of God I intend to do my best. Thanks for listening..and I wish all of you a Good Healthy New Year.:)
If you have any suggestions for me or can relate...please let me know..and thank you :)

rate increase

I had the same problem, same exact symptoms you are having. I had alot of dizzy spells and SOB for no reason. My Cardiologist raised my low rate to 60bpm, and I felt so much better. Still have occ dizzy spells when changing positions but much improved since the rate increase. The cardiologist states that my blood pressure does not adjust as quickly when changing positions because of the PM, therfore a few "dizzy spells" canbe expected. If I were you I would have them increase the rate, 50bpm is still low..

What to expect

The most important thing to keep in mind is that the pacemaker isn't able to fix the basic problem in your heart. It can only provide support to greatly improve the situation.

Having said that it will help get the most out of your pacer if you contact your doctor about any symptoms that are bothersome. It takes most of us a year or so to get used to when something is a problem and when it is just one of those "thumps and bumps".

The SOB and mild dizziness are often just a result of the natural anxiety from strange sensations in our chest. When this happens take a few minutes to breath deeply, slowly, and gently. I call it being "long of breath".

At your next checkup ask the doctor for a printout of the pre and post programming report. Some of us here can help you understand it, and it provides insight into what may be going on. While the doctor should be using it to optimize the pacer for you, they often are busy and just put you off.

Don't hesitate to post any more concerns. We've all gone through it to some degree and understand.

best,

frank

Quirks

Thank you all..it is good to know that sometimes it takes a year or so to get these things fixed..I actually overall feel pretty good..its just the quirky things that pop up that make me get nervous...I am going to call the Dr tomorrow and get with him about some of this stuff and get a print out as you suggested :)
Have a good day to all and the best to all of you :)

Quirks

I have a flutter, dizzy feeling like just before you start to pass out periodically, before and after PM particularly when I change positions. No one can explain it to me. It comes and goes. Even ran a strip one day while it was happening... nothing! I figured out that nothing is happening that can be explained and just took to ignoring it. I'm not telling you to ignore it though. Make sure to talk with your doctors.Every person is different.

I have SSS w/ brady-tachy. Prior to the PM anything below 70 and I was dizzy, SOB, etc. My PM is set 70-140, but if I hit the high 90s and above, I have dizziness, SOB, sweats, etc. I find this happens when there's a sudden rise in BP as well, like if I extert too much or get really upset. It will only happen every once in awhile and not last long. I usually take my vitals every 3 min until it stops. Usually I will see a change in BP and/or heart rate. Not dangerous, just a sudden change like HR changing by 20 or 30 suddenly. Or a drop in BP from my personal high end to the low end. Hydration also plays a big role in these changes, so stay well hydrated.

Hope that helps a little...Anna
