question about SOB and PM

HI :)
I have a question
one of my friends read about if your PM's settings are not right that you can experience SOB and other sysptoms...so I said to her I would put that on the PM Club.site and find out what you all think of that? is this true? and if so how would you know?
Thanks :)

Question About PM

by SMITTY - 2010-02-18 02:02:08

Hello Breezy,

I'm not trying to give you a short answer ,but the answer is yes this can happen. You would know it is happening the same way you would know it was happening if you didn't have a pacemaker.

However, cases of that happening are few and far between.
Getting the pacemaker settings correct are reactively simple as computers and what amounts to a four lead EKG are used during pacemaker checkups and to the a doctor, nurse, technician experienced in adjusting the settings on a pacemaker, these can provide essentially a road map of what is needed. That is not to say that everybody gets the optimum settings for them the first try but such settings are available for all of us and if the patients thinks something is not right (and you will know) they must tell their care giver.

Pacemakers are wonderful devices and those people that get the best results are the ones that can have 2-way conversations with their doctor. I think no one should ever consider not getting or not wanting a pacemaker because of something like your friend read.

If you will continue to read reports here you will see that some of our members praise their pacemakers and some want to curse them, but about 99% of us know that without our pacemaker life would be tedious at best, if we even had a life.

Hi Smitty :)
Thank you for your information - I have read many posts on here with the goods and the bads feelings about the PM
I myself am very happy with my PM - I actually did not have a choice in the matter - with my pulse at a low point of 27 and staying in the 30's - I fainted and ended up in the ER - 2 days later I had my new friend the PM:)
I will pass this info on to my friend.....
thank you again
Have a nice day
Breezy
