Uh Oh Spaghetti-oh

Alrighty, went to see the cardio last week...forced my way in. Everything looked good. Got copies of my xrays. Helps for me to have a diagram LOL.

Here's my question: Earlier I reached quickly as my son was falling down. Now where the pacer is, I feel something that wasn't there before. I can feel wires through the skin as if the wires leading out of the pacer shifted a little. According to my new "diagram" I'm feeling this exactly where the wires are. I'm 4 weeks post-op. Is this normal? Should I annoy the doctors some more?

Thanks,
Anna

Yes you should!

I think anytime something feels weird or wrong, you should always contact your cardiologist. I feel like I bother mine too often, but heck that's what they are there for. I questioned a dosage change on my meds last visit because I was not sure. I am glad I did, because it was the wrong dose. So you should always be safe instead of sorry. Have a great holiday!

Pacer Shifted

A small shift in the pacer/leads aren't a problem unless they become painful. It's only a shift in leads on the heart end that can cause problems. Those you can't feel.

Shift

by annaelliott76 - 2009-12-15 11:12:35

I think it was just a slight shift. I checked my "diagram" again and can feel everything where it's supposed to be. Part of it, I think. is the skin starting to tighten around the pacer, making me more aware of such things. Thus far, I have been with virtually no pain at the site since it was put in place. ( I was too busy worrying about the pain from the chest tube... and thanks to Morphine, I don't remember the first couple days) This doesn't hurt, I can just feel the leads in a more pronounced way. I can feel the wires from the pacer to the collarbone.

ANNOY your doctor(s)? ~ ~

by Carolyn65 - 2009-12-16 12:12:01

Glad everything appears to be doing better for you. I know any changes cause my brain "alarm" to go off.

Annoy your doctor(s)? If I needed to call, visit, chat or annoy one of my doctors for any reason, small or large, I would not hesitate to do so. Thankfully, I have not needed nor want to call. I do not know about you all, but when I think about the large amount of monies I have paid my insurance company for 45+ years, the co-payments I have given to my doctors each visit and now the monies the government deducts from my insurance payments for Medicare insurance (plus my regular insurance company deductions), I personally, do NOT mind annoying anyone being paid for what their services are. Their fees are exhorbiant as it is.

What would make me really upset would be to need a doctor(s) and be told I could not see one for months or not at all! Annoying a doctor (or lawyer for that matter) does not bother me, as for the monies they charge, they all should be on duty 24/7. Just my opinion (ha-ha).

HAPPY HOLIDAYS, Carolyn G. in TEXAS ( :

hi! might be the slack

by Hot Heart - 2009-12-20 04:12:38

They obviously leave some slack in the wires so that they dont break, pull out of the pm or pullor heart. My wires are sometimes there at the top and sometimes arent. Dont think its a major problem, hopefully

You know you're wired when...
