brady to tachy?

My pm was implanted due to bradycardia (Dec. 09), but several times in the past few days I have had a very rapid heartbeat, enough to make me uncomfortable. Is this a normal occurence? I see the EP in two weeks, just wondering if I need to check in any sooner.

Call the EP

Although there are tachycardias that are potentially life-threatening, the most common in this setting are atrial fibrillation, atrial tachycardia (often caused by the atrial lead implant itself) and potentially pacemaker mediated tachycardia (where the PPM is not programmed properly.)

I would call the office and have them make you a quick appointment to have the device interrogated.

Good luck

The experience of having a couple of lengths of wire fed into your heart muscle and an electronic 'box' tucked under the skin is not an insignificant event, but you will survive.
