FIBROMYALGIA AND RECOVERY

So it is now a little past one month from having my implant for 2nd degree AV block and bradycardia. So far, so good.

I am still having problems sleeping because of numbness in top of arm and side of breast. Doctor thinks it will just take some time to slowly go away. I also still have some bouts of dizziness/lightneadiness and my internist said that it may take the circulatory system a bit longer to get used to the pacemaker working. I am pacing 50% of the time, so I guess I just have to be patient.

Because I have fibromyalgia, I need to think about how I feel every day and compare it to the way I felt before pacemaker. The fibro does cause dizziness/lightheadiness and alot of pain. So when I get more pain in my surgery area, I have to remember there was pain in that spot before.

I also have experienced some weird feelings in my chest after exerting myself and notice that my heart rate is increased. I guess for so long I couldn't feel a racing pulse that it is a new feeling to get adjusted to. I know when I go for my three month checkup they can adjust the rate if it is bothering me.

So other than some little ups and downs, it is mostly up every day. I am really thankful I have a great internist and specialist who is there for every little question. I know some of you haven't had great experiences with your physicians, and hope that changes. The most important part of recovery is your support system, both medical, family and friends. I have all of this and can't imagine it being any different.
