Hi everyone. I haven't been on in a while and hope all are doing okay. I have a quick question regarding exercising.
I recently purchased a Shake Weight as advertised on television, and I was wondering if anyone has tried it and if it caused any problems on the pacemaker side. I am a few days short of my one year anniversary with my new friend. I still have some nerve damage with pain on my arm and at the site.
Any feedback about this exercise equipment would be greatly appreciatedl Thanks, Marcia.

The only direct pacer issue would be if your pacer has Rate Response turned on. The only effect would be that your HR might go up faster than required by the exercise.
The only other question is the nerve damage you mentioned. I would start gently and build up slowly. If you start having any nerve sensations or pain at the site stop and check into it. The main thing is to avoid getting the area irritated which could take a while to heal.
Any finally, if you feel all shook up, drop us a note. LOL

I've had my PM a year and 5 days. I started using the shake weight several months ago, no problem.
If you have nerve damage and pain I would ask your Dr. or EP their opinion first.

Exercise Limits!

Hi Marcia, I've had experience of too much upper body arm exercise with my PM site with my 3rd PM acting up. As I had a lot of scar tissue in the site my PM eroded and had to be replaced with a right chest implant.
As I continued cardiac rehab program as I have a heart stent also, I used only my right arm and doubled up on treadmill, bike, & eliptical. Now with my 4th new implant I have been the most comfortable in my 18 years of PM life. Just thought I'd mention my experience and also must tell it all, I have been way to active in upper body activity doing lots of bull work which I'm sure contributed to my erosion and also always develope scar tissue (keloids) with many other surgeries. donb
