Finally!

Ok, guys,
Just after sending my last message, my cardiologist's clinic phoned and told me that he wants to see me ASAP. He said to book me in the next available appointment. I'm going next Tuesday and my Mom is going with me. Finally someone is doing something. I don't know if this is good or bad, but the receptionist told me that he usually doesn't give results on the phone, but with my experience if it were good news he wouldn't be rushing the appointment so I hope things are
OK, although I'm really not feeling well. I'm seeing my G.P tomorrow and I hope they have spoken so she might be able to tell me something to calm me down or at least prepare me for next week. I'm trying to think happy thoughts, but if it were good news he wouldn't be asking to book me at the next available appointment he has. He would wait. Worrying here! The receptionist in the clinic finally offered something I hoped his personal receptionist would and that was a phone call from him to maybe explain/prepare me for next week, but I doubt he will call so I'll rely on my G.P and if she can't give me anything than I'll wait and try to keep positive. It really doesn't help that my parents are going away this weekend and I'm going to be alone. So hopefully my cardiologist will call me tomorrow (doubtful) and I'm seeing my G.P anyways so hopefully some info from her. Wish me luck. Really scared!

Reality

Taryn,
I'm really concerned about the way this whole thing is affecting you. I realize it is difficult, but what you need to work on is a realistic outlook of your situation. Thinking the worst isn't helpful, but neither is thinking the best. As a nurse you have skills that could help you evaluate your symptoms and make a decision on what kind of action to take. Put them to work for you.

It could very well be that the cardiologist decided to see you based on your being so upset, rather than because you have some serious cardiac problem. I'm not tryiing to make you feel better, just showing there are alternatives.

So Nurse Taryn, take care of your most important patient!

Hey everyone!
Ok, saw my G.P today and my cardiologist actually left another message for me this morning, everything is fine. He just wants to sit down with me next week to discuss a few things, but nothing bad. What a relief! So all of you, including my parents were right. Thank you. Much better tonight and very happy. Might actually sleep tonight. Thanks again for everything. You guys are the best!

Thanks

Hey Franks,
Thanks so much, but there is history there. I remember one time when I wasn't well and neither of doctors called to tell me what the plan was and then a nurse from the hospital phoned to find out where I was. I was supposed to be admitted and nobody told me! Also, I know my cardiologist and he doesn't call you into his office unless there is something wrong. He usually either tells you on the phone everything is fine or let's the family doctor tell you. He also doesn't rush to get a patient in "at the next available appointment" if everything is fine. If he really wants to give you good news he will get you in for an appointment, but not rush. Even the receptionist said that this is not usualy for him. Seeing my G.P today though so hopefully she can tell me something.

I'm thinking he is seeing you so soon to re-assure you everything is okay. there has been a lot of communication going on between you and your doctors and perhaps he realizes that he should have had the common courtesy to sit with you face to face and actually have a conversation with you.

remember: the squeaky wheel gets the grease.

I had a MIBI test on January 29 and will be seen by my EP tomorrow..that is unheard of here (usually it would be a few months later) ...but with my history and my constantly keeping them on their toes and keeping things in order (as things have fallen thru the cracks) I think that is why I am being seen so quickly. Either that, or he found something on my MIBI. Regardless, I'll have to deal with what I'm dealt, as I really don't have a choice. :)

You have been thru a lot of frustration too lately and I can certainly relate as when I read your posts it was like I was reading something I would have written.

I wish you all the best and I am glad you are taking your mom with you because I don't know about you, but I always forget everything they say.

good luck
Pookie

Now!!

Now just file it away for the next time! There is enough medical grief in the world without making more for yourself.
