Update on Taryn

Hi,
It's Bram again. just wanted to let you know that Taryn had a good night and is doing better today. They have done an echo this morning which we don't have the results from and she is going for a CT scan soon on her abdomen to see if there are any clues about her kidneys. They are working again. She is making urine. I guess the one dialysis worked, but we don't know for sure yet. they are concerned because her potassium level is high and that is dangerous for her heart and she has a fever since last night, but she is breathing on her own and resting very comfortably. Her O2 sats do drop occassionally around 85%, but they say as long as it doesn't drop lower she is OK. She does have a chest tube in since her lung has collapsed and she is on an antibiotic and lasix and a blood pressure medication since her blood pressure is low. She wants me to thank all of you for your concern and well wishes and wants you to know that she is doing better today. They are still thinking of transferring her to a more specialized hospital, but nothing will happen until Monday. The fluid in her lungs has gone down, but the fluid in the rest of her body is still there. they don't know if it is just from her lying down for so long or the infection. They do know that her lungs are not OK, but they are not 100% why. They are going to do a VQ scan tomorrow. They are also going to do a head CT this afternoon to see if there is anything there. They are thinking right now that she had a clot in her lung that is now somewhere else. Maybe her kidney. This doesn't make sense to me considering the fact that originally they said that her kidney was affected by an infection that spread. The doctor did say something about one of her blood tests came back positive that would indicate a blood clot, but no big details yet. Tough for all of us and now that she is awake, especially for her.
