Has anyone heard a "tone".

I've had my B.S. pacemaker since 2-10-10 and had a first today. I was at work cleaning a handheld disolved oxygen meter when I heard what I can only describe as a tone. I even had a co-worker listen and he heard it too.

We couldn't decide whether it was coming from the pacemaker or the meter (it was off) but it quit as I moved away, started again as I got closer.

Shorly before I heard the same ton as I used an office computer. I didn't feel anything and I'm still not sure if the tone was coming form me or the meter. When I heard it while on the computer I thought it was just one of the many workplace noises.

Has anyone else had this expiernce?

Thanks
Terry

Tone

I don't know of any tone that the pacer emits. A tone device if one was part of the pacer would draw quite a bit of current from the battery and shorten its life. They certainly wouldn't use a tone unless it was to indicate a serious situation and then it would be short beeps to keep battery drain down.

High pitched tones can reflect off walls from other equipment in a room and only seem to be present at certain places often not near the actual source. I have an ozone purifier for my hot tub mounted on the wall which emits a very high pitched squeal. I only hear it certain places when I'm in the tub and then very loud.

If you are concerned call the manufacturer of your pacemaker and ask. The phone number should be on the ID card they gave you at implant.
