Sore throat and fuzzy head

Hi guys. As some of you might know I had to have general anethesia and was intubated because of it. I know that a sore throat is usually a side effect of this, but does anyone know how long the throat pain is supposed to last? It doesn't hurt like a sore throat from a cold, it hurts deeper down by my voice box. Is this normal?
Also, my head is not clear. Kind of fuzzy. Is this normal from surgery too?

I came home from the hospital with a head cold. A bit of a sore throat and some fuzziness for a day or two if you had a general is normal, but after this much time I think you should get checked out just to be on the safe side.

Did they put you on beta blockers? They can make you fuzzy.

I agree with Pookie that you should get things checked out. Not even a week after my pacemaker implant I started to have sore throat deep down with horseness and then started to cough.

Beause I was just out of surgery I didn't wait to see my doctor. Good thing because I had the start of bronchitis and went on an antibiotic immediately so that it wouldn't turn into pneumonia. My doctor said that because of not sleeping well after the surgery and having some anesthesia, my resistance was lowered and I was more prone to infections.

Please get yourself checked out. I don't want to see any of my pacemaker friends feel bad if they don't have to.

Have a good night.

It doesn't sound normal to me.

I think you should go get yourself checked out by a doctor.

Where you live, do you have an Urgent Care or a Walk In Medical Clinic that might be a bit faster than going to the ER???

Remember: don't let anything go; as one never knows these days with a lot of bugs going around. When in doubt....get yourself checked out. You don't want to end up with some kind of infection, right???

I think your body is trying to tell you something!!!

Better safe than sorry.

Hugs,
Pookie

Get checked out asap

I agree with the others. Get checked out and if you are coming down with something nip it in the bud. Antibiotics if necessary. Take care and keep us posted.

Ok.

Sore Throat

by TracieOT - 2010-03-06 02:03:34

Hi! I had my pacemaker on Feb. 4, 2010. I had pain in my throat as well. It finally started going away last week. I was told by the doctor it most likely nerve endings. But I would have it checked out to be on the safe side!

Sore throat after intubation

It would be unusual NOT to have a sore throat after intubation. One of those sore throat sprays can help. And, general anesthesia can make your head feel a little fuzzy for a few days. Sometimes your neck may be sore also from positioning on the table.

It's Normal after Intubation

If you had intubation with general anesthesia, you will have a sore throat for several weeks, and feel pain when you swallow. A tube is put down your throat before the surgery, so it causes the soreness. The throat and other areas will heal. My mother had this issue after having surgery for a hernia. She was intubated, and it took about a month before the soreness subsided.

General anesthesia can stay in your system for a while, so fuzziness is also normal.
