Complications at hospital

My cardiologist came in and said my platelet count is severly low and they can not cut me open to do surgery. He is having the hemotologist come in to run tests and view options. I mAy have to get blood transfusion before they can do PM surgery.

You must be disappointed by the delay, but, at least you know they will be doing everything right.
As Wenditt mentioned, you might not even need a pacemaker........

Ugh

The downside is that's its just another thing on your plate right now.

The upside is with the blood work maybe they will find another cause for your symptoms and you may not need a pacemaker.

OR....they will find out why...fix it...and you will be able to move on.

Wishing you all the best. Hang in there.

Today may seem like quite the downer, but all those pre-operative tests have a function. It's good that they found out about your low platelet count. Now they can look for the reason. Hang in there and be positive. Your cardiologist will take care of you and I'm sure he has already consulted more than just the hemotologist. Doctors work in teams - I see this everyday at the medical center I work at. Take care.

Better to have caught an underlying problem early, as in today, than find out later there is a bigger/worse problem. You are in the best place right now for any complications or blessings to be found.

Hey, about the endoscopy you are suppose to have, if it is like the ones I have had or know the people who have had this, the time thinking about it takes longer than the initial procedures themselves! People have put a real stigma on the endoscopy as if it were a root canal. The endoscopy is no big deal and it is over quick.

You are still in our hearts and prayers and please let us know about what your doctors find and your progress. You will be up and at 'em again soon.

Take care, Carolyn G. in TEXAS ( :

Good news they found this before they operated. Can you at least have something to eat now?????

I know it's frustrating and your head must be spinning with all this information. What a day you must have had.

However, stay positive.

Does this mean you are still in the hospital????

And remember...you have an entire team here cheering you on.

Keep us posted....PLEASE.

Hugs,
Pookie

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.
