Security gate

Hi all,
Due back in work next week after my 1st pm fitted last month.
We have a turnstile that uses a magnetic card reader to gain entry, is this likely to cause me a problem.

Hello Charlie,

It is most unlikely it will have any effect on your pacemaker as
the strength of electromagnetic field around these devices is extremely low. But since nothing is ever 100% sure about pacemakers we all have to be aware of our surroundings and what is going on. If the device does interfere with your pacemaker it will probably feel like a skipped heartbeat or a PAC/PVC for a second or two.

Or, if you have had a checkup and they placed magnet over your pacemaker during the checkup that feeling is what you would get. All you will need to do is move a couple of feet away from the device and your pacemaker will return to normal operation and no harm will have been done to you or the PM. Just like when they remove the magnet during a checkup.

Good luck,

Smitty
