lead replaced and continue palpitations

Hi,
I had pacemaker placed on February 5th 2010. I had a low heart rate and was always tired. Well after surgery I was healing, but still felt weak. On Wednesday February 10th I was feeling faint and felt alot of palpitations, during my sleep as well. So I called my doc on Thursday Morning and he said its probably nothing serious, but the palpitations seemed stronger and stronger as I did things around the house, so around 9 am I headed on to Hospital ER.
They did tests and had the Medtronics tech come out and low and behold one of my leads was out of please, so my surgeon came in around 12 pm and said they would have to do an emergency surgery that afternoon. So now I came home on Saturday afternoon (Feb. 13) and still feeling weak and HARD to breath deep at times, though this is Better (the breathing that is). Now last night and Saturday night, I woke up with palpitations again. IT actually woke me up.. Is this normal? How about the breathing deep and feeling tired? I also had Gastric bypass in July 2009, but so far I am feeling ok on that surgery. Feedback is welcomed please!

I just got my PM on wednesdAy the 10th last week and have had a lot of soreness and burning. I have also had palpitaions and woke up once sweating and heart felt weird shock sensation to lower part of heart then heavy beats. I have also been feeling real tired and weak. I called cariologist but closed because of the snow. The cardiologist called me back and said
he would get me in in the morning. I hope snow clears up so i can make it in. Was your heart rate still staying up when your lead was misplaced?

Hi there

Anyway.. I am having a heart rate of 61-65.. this morning.. not sure during the night, but yeah I hope i feel stronger soon.
I am telling you, this is scary. They said (doctor office) that I should feel stronger in a couple days, and I sure hope so.

How old are you if you don't mind me asking?
Well I have a baby shower next week for my daughter in law and holding it, for the most part for 80 people. I have alot of prepping to do still too... I hope i will be ok to cook and do stuff...

Anway.. write back.. Judy

Hi, my name is paul and i am 25. It is scary when we are dealing with our hearts and these weird feelings are no fun. If i knew that the feelings were normal that would be good but there is nothing "normal" about my feelings. I have never had these feelings before the PM. Good luck with the shower. I hope you feel better and all goes well for you.

Hi Judy,
I had my pm put in the end of last year Dec 28/09 and I didn't feel quite right till just recently, I had weird palpitations felt kind of like symptoms before the pm but hard to describe . :-) anyway all of that blather just to say I feel totally normal now and can sleep on either side no pain or palpitations I run the stairs for laundry day and work normal hours at work . I am 43 and never had a day of heart problems before my heart rate tanked in Dec. Don't worry too much, it all works out in the end.

Welcome to the world of pacemakers.

IF you are still not feeling well, if I were you I'd go to the ER. I'm saying this because anything is possible.

I had my top lead fall not once but 3 times all within 10 days while in hospital.

You know your own body and you know when something is wrong, so please do not hesitate to ever go to the ER.

I completely understand that this can be a scarey situation. If you feel THE least bit uncomfortable or have pain or feel dizzy or whatever the case may be, just go to the ER and they can always do a quick chest Xray or an ultrasound to make sure that your lead is still where it should be.

Better safe than sorry, eh?

Perhaps you should ask for some help with throwing that shower too. Judy, you just had surgery, and although the scar may look like it is healing nicely, there is a lot of tissue underneath there that also has to have time to heal. Please don't over do it.

Take care,
Pookie

Thanks so much for your advice.
Thank God I got some help for the shower.
My mom and aunt are helping and of course friends of my daughter in law. I go to the surgeon and cardiologist today.
I will keep you posted. I did have one small palpitation today and it was scary. So I will try to keep a log of when these occur and I do feel alot of pressure near the scar, so I hope things will be ok.
Thanks again!
Judy

palpitations

Teresa,
Thanks for your input. I have had some palpitations this morning but not nearly as strong as the night before last.
Luckily last night no palpitations woke me up like the night before. I did talk to the nurse that discharged me last Friday from the hospital. She called to followup and see how I was doing. She said the palpitations are NOT normal and that I should report this to the doctor. She said IF it continues at night to not hesitate and call 911 and see what happens. So I will keep an eye on it. I am scared because I did not have any of this before the surgery. Can anyone else out there tell me what there feelings are on this one? Let me know.. Thanks for your input Teresa -Have a great day!
