Thumping... Morning and night.. more often now

Well...
I am 'thumping' again with my PM.. more now in the early morning and late night. It seems as though when I am stressed or worried about something it occurs more often.. I am having the medtronics tech. look at it on Tuesday (March 16th).. It is alarming and scary and my cardiologist says if it is troublesome and occurs more often than normal call 911... Any suggestions or similar results from anyone out there? It has been 1 month since my PM surgery...

Thumbing

Hi Judy,

I felt the same day and night even after my pacemaker was replaced. I talked to the Technician and asked him to perform couple of tests by connecting and diconnecting the wires one by one on the computer program and after disconnecting one of the wires at the upper chamber the palpitation went away . It seems that the wire was faulty. The faulty wrie will remain in my chest until the next time that I am going to have a pacemaker implant then my doctor might insert another wire. Right now my pace maker is only working with one wire and I feel OK.

However, remember that every one of us are our own Doctors. No one is in our body to feel the feelings that we feel, hence, ask the technician to perform few tests to find out what the problem is.

scratching

I do not get a thumping but I do get a constant scratching sensation around the area of my pacemaker and into my ribs. It drives me mad because I have it almost all the time now. Anyone else got this?

No I dont get any scratching sensation at all but I do get the thumping. I did last night and today around lunch time while I went for a walk at work.. It's very aggravating and annoying, but lets see what the techs say and docs on Tuesday, march 16.

In 2003, after 2 years of reococurring "thumping" I finally spoke with the right person, in a device clinic, (as opposed to the cardiology clinic) who promised to help me. Within minutes an intern, with the help of a device doctor, isolated my problem. A lead was located close to the pericardium and/or muscle and the implant was beating those areas as well as my heart. For 2 years I had suffered especially when lying down or riding in a car. Certain positions aggrivated the "thumping". A new lead was inserted and the problematic one deactivated. It was not removed, however. I've not felt the "thumping" since the procedure. Great improvement! I hope the same for you.

I had the same problem a year ago. Quite annoying.It was corrected at the clinic where I got the implant, when they changed "the polarity of a lead" , they said
