Disapointing interrogation :(

Alright, so I had my pacer interrogation today. The EGM shed some light on what I've been feeling. Turns out that I've been having short bursts of atrial flutter/fib with a rate of 320bpm. Yikes! The longest run being about 13 seconds.
Thank heavens that pacers now are equipped with diagnostic recording. The scary thing now is I have no idea what they're going to do with me. I see a ventricular lead being placed in my very near future. If that's what they suggest, I would at least want to go ahead and get it done THIS year since I've already met my deductible.
CRAP! WHY? WHAT NOW? ( I need to calm down, LOL)
This is just wonderful.....
I told them I was feeling "funky". At least now they might believe me.

A Fib

by Suze - 2008-11-20 03:11:38

I had A Fib. I take Toprol XL and Flecainide to control it and after 2 1/2 years it's still working. No blood thinners necessary, thank goodness.

I take toprol too

Thanks Suze,

I'm sure we'll figure something out. I still don't like it though. UGH.

well, yuck!

(passing the Godiva, shaking the martinis) If it's any consolation, I always figure bad news is better than no news- at least they found *something* instead of doing a million tests and not finding anything to convince them you're not a hypocondriac ;oP

Did they mention another lead? I think they usually do meds for a-fib. Pm's don't really do much for fibrillation because they can't slow your heart down.

I'm sorry your day didn't get off to a better start. I'm trying to get the house cleaned and start on my baking for next week, but I'll try to get on Facebook later if you want to catch me there. {{{{hugs}}}}

make that 380bpm..

UGH!

Thanks ya'll

Thanks so much, Patch and Tracey ! Ya'll are the coolest, and have brought me back down to earth.
Jeez, I just wasn't expecting this at all.
The programmer mentioned that he really could not exclude V-tach, because I'm paced in the atrium. He said if I had a ventricular lead they could tell exactly where the rhythm is coming from....hence my thinking of them adding the ventricular lead. I already have a dual chamber just in case of things like this. Atrial pacing is just an experiment for now, so we'll see what's next. I was originally planned for AV node ablation, but we thought we'd try this route first. (lesser of two evils)
I know a-fib/flutter is treated with meds - coumadin. I don't wanna take that. Horrible! I'm only freakin' 33. I don't want to start taking that for the rest of my life. I lokk at coumadin worse than having a pacemaker.
But, as I just glanced at the response above (thanks again) I'll just wait to see what the next step is. By the time they get together and decide, I'll be ready for the step whether it be up or down.
Back atcha Patch <3
I don't know what I'd do without ya'll.

You know you're wired when...

You have rhythm.
