transition to 100% paced

Are there any of you out there that had a pacer and then transitioned to 100% paced after AV Node ablation.
Can you tell a difference, or no?
I'm trying really hard to weigh my pros and cons, because I know once it's done- there's no going back.
It's a tough decision to be 100% paced, but I know that I can't keep going like I've been going. It's really a catch 22.

Any comments would be appreciated greatly. Going to see my EP in Atlanta soon.

100% CLUB

A lot of us are in the 100% CLUB. I had my pacemaker fitted and had an AV node ablation 6 weeks later. Without the AV node ablation I was getting Vtach - Ventricular tachycardia- which is quite serious. After AV node ablation I became 100%dependant and there war an immediate improvement in my cardiac funtion. Im 2 years in and going along nicely. Also I would like to mention that an AV node ablation is a fairly quick and a lot less risky than some ablation proceedures and it is usually pain free. Cheers Peter

What Mary Anne said... I haven't had an ablation but I've been 100% ventricle paced for years now and I feel terrific. And you've probably noticed that I'm ok with it. ;o)

I'm sorry you have to make more hard decisions! But you can't go on the way you have been. Sending lotsa hugs and prayers.

Thanks ya'll

I still up in the air. We'll see how the EP appt goes.

Thanks for your comments. It might not seem like a big deal to ya'll, but it helps to know how 100%'rs get along.

Thanks again,
Angelie

I am getting my pm on Friday and they're ablating my AV node at the same time.

Good or bad, I'll be glad to have it done. My understanding (all you smarties correct me if I'm wrong) is that if they don't ablate the AV node, you still have AFib symptoms. I've been dealing with cronic afib for nearly 4 years and am looking forward to not having those symptoms any more.

Good luck to you! I know you'll make the decision that's best for you!

Being dependant on your PM

I can appreciate your trepedation in this. But you know that is what the PM is for..to keep us ticking.

I often think of our hearts like an engine. When they work they work perfectly. But like engines hearts need tune ups. Those tune ups can consist of, rewiring the electrical system and sometimes extra parts. In your case it's the electrical system that needs a tune up.

Sounds like your atrial fib is not under control and that they are suggesting you have an ablation of your AV node in order to improve your quality of life.

Not that this helps but my AV node is 100% paced and I have not had an ablation and you know that's ok with me..it works and it allows me to have an active life style. I look at it as at least there was something they could do for me. As far as being able to tell the difference whether I am 100% paced or not....let me put it to you this way....I am not lightheaded, I don't get dizzy spells anymore and I am not nauseated...when I am NOT paced I feel unwell.

I wish you all the best...please keep us posted...cheers. Mary Anne

You know you're wired when...

You have rhythm.
