2 weeks tomorrow

Hi all! I will be 2 weeks post PM tomorrow..and still do not feel all that great. Yesterday I got out and took a few short walks, it was great. But that pain where my PM is, is terrible. I keep fearing I have pulled a lead!!! I have some pain that goes kinda in toward my armpit, and then also down below where the PM is resting. Its strange. I also want to know, will this huge bulge always be there?? I mean its like palm size? Is that normal? I have had good days and bad days...and I hate sounding like a baby. I just really want more good days, but I know, I know its only been 2 weeks. Just wish this all could get easier soon. :). On a bright side, my lil 5 yr old, tells my PM goodnight mommies heat, take good care of her and keep her healthy and safe. And each morning she says, Good morning mommies heart i hope u let my mommy sleep good and keep beeping for her all day!!!! <3 i love my babies so much!!!!

Chinese Fortune Cookie ~ ~

by Carolyn65 - 2010-03-26 02:03:02

This was in my Chinese Fortune Cookie after my dinner the other night: Good things come to those who wait. Be patient. I say, "Two weeks is not enough time yet".

Each one of us are so different in "bouncing back". Just do and feel what your body is telling you. Listen to your own body. My PM implant was 10/09 and occasionally, I still have a "tinge"/"pull around my incision area. For the first couple of months after the implant, if I "over did it", I felt tired and sore.

Bless the Babes. Out of the mouths of Babes are the sweetest, most precious words, and sometimes the funniest. Love those babies and give a big Hug.

Hi Brooke...

The bulge will pretty much remain the same. You will get use to it and forget that you even have it eventually.

I don't remember having pain. I did sleep on my side with my arm next to the matteress extended and a pillow in between and with the other arm wrapped around it. I still sleep this way. It helped me in keeping the pm from pulling away from me... in which I had some discomfort then.

Take it one day at a time ;) You will have better days.

I lived in Memphis for 7 yrs, but in Michigan now. I love eastern TN... the Gatlinburg area ;)

Your girls sound so precious ;D

Take care,
CJ

2 weeks

First off, what your daughter says is precious!!!
Now write that down to remember many years from now! LOL Too cute.
2 weeks for the swelling isn't that long. As each week passes that will go down so much. I'm amazed at how mine has changed at day 60. Each week I'm more pleased with the way it looks. Be patient. ;)
I'm not sure what the severe pain could be, but maybe err on the side of caution & call your Dr.

Give yourself more time

This past Wednesday was my 4 week PM anniversary. First time in over 2 months that my husband was away for 3 days. I was so exhausted last night that I had my pj's on by 7pm and went to bed. This morning I see sunny skies despite the rain! I'm glad I listened to my body and just went to sleep.

One thing I have been doing is keeping a journal of how I feel and the # of steps I have been taking each day and my exercise intensity.

So in a nutshell, feel better at week 4 than week 2, soreness in incision better (I use a piece of gauze over the incision to inhibit brastrap rubbing). taking over 12,000 steps per day, can walk over 2 miles on treadmill at moderate pace , 1% incline (60 % of target heart rate - not pushing speed, but endurance right now)

And give you baby lots of kisses. They are why we keep going. And my baby will be Sweet 16 in just over a week (sentimental tear rolls down cheek).

2 months for me

by qwerty - 2010-03-26 10:03:06

I have had my PM for 2 months. My PM is still larger than I expected, but smaller than it was at 2 weeks ago and 1 month ago. When I went back at 6 weeks, the wires going into the pm were sticking up. My Dr pushed on it a lot and got them back down a little. The next few days my PM site was swollen again. So even after 6 weeks, this told me everything is still healing. My Dr said it could settle in more and it may be 6 months before it is healed and where it will stay. At 2 months today, I still have times that it is itchy "inside", the wires are still sticking up, but a little gauze pad keeps it from rubbing during the day which beats another operation to relocate. 2 weeks is long enough to "think" you are ready for your life to hit super go, but take it easy. You still have a lot of healing to do.

As for those kids... get a little recorder and record those moments. even without video they are great memories to have. I have one of my son, with is "lisp" from when he was in the 3rd grade from a phone tape. It says: Mom, Whwr aw you? I missed th bus...
He is 32 now and he is adopting a child of his own. I am sure it will embarras him when I pull it out for his child to listen to someday, but these are precious memories that will sustain us through all the hard times in our lives.
God Bless these little ones!

It's amazing how much kids understand. I can understand your love for them.

2 weeks isn't very long so be patient. A pulled lead isn't likely to be painful. The main effect of that would be a problem with pacing. The leads may just be irritating some sensitive tissue in the pocket.

I've mentioned it here before, but making that pocket for the pacer is a rather brutal procedure. All we see on the outside is the incision, but that is nothing to what happened on the inside.

best,

frank
