Go To ER

If you think your shortness of breath is due to the blow on your pacemaker it would probably be due to damage to a pacemaker lead and you need to go to an ER. The pacemaker it self is a very tough piece of machinery and a blow to is not likely to damage it.

Have you called your Dr.?

Hi Brooke,
Hopefully you have put a call into your DR. Or if you are still having symptoms sought medical attention. If it was me (100% paced) and in your situation, I would have my leads checked immediately. Why mess around. You may be SOB due to the emotional situation but I wouldn't risk it. I won't ask about your PM requirements. If you are still symptomatic hopefully you have already gone to have it checked out.

Sorry to hear of your situation and wish you the best for both you and your daughter.

more than one issue of concern

you might want to consider calling the police as well - this is a physical assualt and should not be tolerated. Period. If you are fine this time - and do not take action to stop the unacceptable behavior - you may not be as lucky next time. or the time after that...... good luck - with everything PD

I agree with the others, go to the ER to make sure your leads are ok. If she knew about the pm and hit it on purpose, I'd be calling the police to file a report also. Good luck, and please let us know how you are.

ER

Hi Brooke,
As a nurse, I think you need to go to an ER right away and let them know what happened. You may also want to involve authorities to protect yourself in the future. Shortness of breath is not good especially with a pacemaker and especially when you have been struck there. It could be a sign of many issues one of which is a broken collarbone which could be causing the shortness of breath and the more serious one is damage to your chest or the pacer itself which has been hit and has probably hit a lung or something close to it. Please get it checked out right away. This is not something to play with.

Please....

Go to the ER!

Please tell us you have gone and what the dr. said, what the test revealed and that you are ok. I'm concerned about you.

Be careful about the police thing

As soon as you mention the situation with your daughter, you lose control of the situation. You will have some agency making decisions for you and your daughter. If this was just a one time disagreement that got out of hand you may want to deal with it yourself.

On the other hand if she is really threatening to you then it may be necessary to report it as such.

If the shortness of breath keeps up get it checked out in any case.

just my thoughts,

read it wrong!

I thought it was two teens fighting. I wouldn't be turning in my own kid to the police, but I wouldn't hesitate to let her know how serious it is and scare her.

Sorry to hear..
