Sharp chest pains since implant

I am a 56 yo male. I have a Boston Scientific PM that was implanted in March. Since the PM was put in, every once in a while I get sharp pains under my left breast area. It is not like my whole chest is in pain. The best description I can give is that it is like a dagger sticking me. But it hurts so sharply that it makes it hard to move or breath for about a minute. Then it goes away.

The PM is implanted in the upper left chest. Otherwise I feel great. Just wondering if anyone else gets these pains like this?

It's probably just part of healing, but any chest pain should be checked out. Better safe than sorry!

My PM was places in 3/19/10. Boston Scientific as well. I to get these sharp pinching feeling quite often. It 's not contineous but I feel it almost every day. I think it's just a part of the healing process. If it still happens it 6 months from now then I will really be worried.

Thanks to all

Thanks to everyone for all of the helpful information. I will check everything out that has been suggested. Just a little about me, I wear two hats. I am a full time police officer and also I am a bishop in the Anglican Church and have a small parish here in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Since getting the PM for the most part I feel the best that I have felt in about two years. On the other hand, some days I would not mind going to meet the Lord and leaving this worn out body behind, ha ha ha. Sometimes I must confess that my faith is weak. But, we press on knowing that I started dying the moment I was born.

I started playing the guitar about three years ago and that has been a great form of stress relief. When I had a series of ablations done in October of 09, I was int he hospital for 10 days and had one of my guitars with me. It helped me keep my sanity!

I think now it is just a matter of getting all of the tweaking down. Some days, like today, I have a lump in my throat and feel like my heart is racing a bit. I do have VTach so that has some effect on me as well.

Again, thanks everyone!

your chest pain

I noticed a sensation of "squeezing" for a few weeks after I got mine. I don't have any issues with clogged arteries, so I think some of it is normal, and your heart and chest are probably getting used to having stuff in them. I got over it in about a month or so -

Did you have any tests to see how your vessels are?

Mine went away shortly on its own. Make sure your doctor is in the loop. My doctor has me take an aspirin a day.

Me too!

I had my pacemaker implanted last year and although I'm only 25 now and should be 'young and fit' I have these sharp pains around my scar that feels like someone is stabbing my with big needles or something. It's quite uncomfortable and can come fairly frequently and last several minutes. My next check-up is in a month so I will just ask my cardiologist then...will post any updates!

I really like Cathryn B answer. She sounds very knowledgeable. This is happening to me now this sharp stabbing pain...Would stretching exercises be good or would it make it worse.

Searing pain

by flashcat1993 - 2015-05-03 08:05:38

I just had my PM "upgraded" 9 days ago. I only had the old PM 4 years ... battery still had a lot of time left, but I had an "episode" (during my sleep) so the doc suggested I have a dual purpose one installed. I never had any issues with the old PM, but the new one started giving me searing pain in the newly placed wire area about day 4. It was happening frequently, but at day 9 it has nearly stopped. I know the pocket had to be enlarged so I put it off to being nerve brusing. I'll mention it when I see the doc in 4 weeks but I'm pretty comfortable with it now.

You know you're wired when...

Bad hair days can be blamed on your device shorting out.
