4 days later

Hey there guys, I want to start by saying you guys are the best support team I have ever encountered. I am 4 days in to my PM, I will say this, it is very sore and I cannot believe that I feel it kick in as much as I do but, I do feel some what better. I have been told by the PM man that my settings are set to the side of safety with 60 being the minimum. I must say that feels way to high. I can feel the PM kick in and it gives me the thoughts of all my symptoms before I got the PM. But within seconds the feeling goes away and the docs say I have to get used to it:) Easier said than done!! Well thanks for all of the positive thoughts and replys.

if its kicking in at 60 then your hr must be dropping below that for it to kick in.

As time goes by you wont even notice it, its just that in the early days we are all tuned into what our hearts are doing so much that we notice every little bump and beat.

I'm every beat like Renee, like to feel it kick in occasionally, just reminds me why its there! lol

I have the same problem and can feel the PM working - especially at night!

Before my PM insertion - my natural heart rate was 35 bpm (I managed ok with this for years!!) and therefore, when the PM was inserted and set at minimum 60 bpm, it felt like my heart was constantly racing. I've got used to it now after 2 months but the acceptance is quite hard. You sound like you are doing really well and I wish you all the best.

4 days in, twice the bpm...does that put me at 8 days in heart years? hah.

I also just had my pm/defib implanted 4 days ago under the muscle. my resting rate is in the 40's but the minimum is set to pace at 70. seems high, i feel so sad for my little skinny heart having to beat so much. i just feel so sad. nbarton, I really sympathize with your situation, sounds like we are on the same recovery plan. I didn't have any problems until last night when i guess i let myself pay too much attention to it's pulsing and could feel the pacer...after only 4 days i feel so strange about losing the organic component to my pulse and having it replaced by a machine. makes me so sad. so so sad. especially since i'm not pacer dependent. i asked my doc why so high. he just said that he wouldn't lower it because of the results from the ep study but i still just don't get it. i almost NEVER have arrhythmias. i don't get why 50 or 60 bpm couldn't suffice. i guess that's why i'm not the doctor.
