Chest Enlargement

Im about 12 weeks into dealing with my new pacemaker now. Everything is going well. However, my left breast is still quite larger than my right one. Ive always had a perfectly symetrical chest. I'm a guy so i know this probably sounds a bit odd. lol... But I just assumed it was from swelling. I was swollen as well as bruised for quite a while. Im not sore anymore and the bruising is gone completely but the side i got my pacer on is still much larger than my right side. Not just the normal hump of the pacer but the whole breast underneath it. Has any other guys on here experienced this same issue? Or women too... I guess it could be gender neutral. Thanks, Steve

swelling

Well, I'm a girl and mine is buried beneath the breast, so yeah, I've dealt with swelling. I had my last replacement at the end of Jan, also had a plastic surgeon clean up the scar tissue from my last surgeries so it was more invasive than a regular replacement. I'm still pretty lopsided. It's lasted as long as 6 months in the past. A heating pad on low for 15 min a few times a day can help speed it up.

If you have redness, new soreness, streaking along with the swelling, call the dr.

still swollen

Hi Steve,
I had my pacemaker implanted Jan 25, 2010. I am still lop sided, and never had been before. However, I feel it is a small price to pay to feel as good as I do. Guess you will just have to lift more weights with the other side...LOL

Hello Steve. You don't say your age so I don't know if this is a mind thing. Whatever your age just knowing that this thing can save your life should be worth a little change, however if it's a dramatic difference, ask your Dr.

Good luck,

Daniel

I'm 31 and I'm of a very sound mind moose. My next appointment with the cardiologist is may 28th and I definately plan to mention this to him at that time. I'm not sore anymore at all and I'm back to doing everything I used to do. I was hoping this was something to not worry about at all. But I think I might call the dr and move my appointment a little sooner just to see if I can get a reasonable explanation as to what it could be. I really don't think its swelling anymore as I'm not sore anymore and the bruises are gone. Thanks for all the replies.

Strange

Have you checked with the doc about it. At 12 weeks healing should nearly complete. Having the left side noticeably larger than the right (other than the pacer bump) doesn't sound right to me. Is any of the area sore?

Have you checked with the doc about it. Insist on a reasonable explanation. Don't be put off.

muscle turned to fat?

possibly this might have happened during the time that you had to be a bit immobile on that side of your body. Or...............there is always a bit of a possibility that you were always a bit bigger one side than the other and just didnt notice. Sometimes after having things like this we begin to notice things about our bodies that we never even thought about before.

I am just thankful that I am alive and that even though I have this pacemaker it is not the end of the world.
