No longer !

Thanks to all for your hospitality. I was born with CHD. Specifically, Teratology of Fallot and malfunctioning pulmonary valve. After three surgeries, 1961,1989, and 2003. (complete repair) my heart would not pick up speed. It was beating 45 bpm. So it was decided to install an ICD. I am on the second unit now because the first one was recalled.

I have never been comfortable with it. Telling my various doctors to no avail. According to my latest interrogation, it still is pacing my heart some. I have had no incidents of being shocked.

In the last year my wife and i have lost weight and began a regimen of exercise and diet. i have gone off all my medications and lost about 40 pounds. i have went from 193 to 156 lbs. I FEEL BETER than i have all my life. My goal is 150 lbs. I am 5'6" tall.
Now, for the BIG question. Can i do without the ICD?
i would like to have it removed. if not, any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks so much

pulsating feeling in my chest

by muriel306 - 2010-07-06 09:07:12

I just got my ICD 3 weeks ago, I keep getting these pulse type feelings. I never had them prior to the pacemaker. I don't know whether the pacemaker is kicking in due to pvc's or not. I have not been able to get an actual answer from my doctor or nurse practioner. Can anyone tell me if you have these and what causes them. Thank you,

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.
