New to PM club

March 2010 implanted new pacemaker. For the most part I feel ok. Some days I feel a pinching in my upper left chest around the PM site. As if an insect is inside my body bitting me. Does anyone else feel this? Could it have to do with the nervous running throughout the body. I keep wondering if the lead is pulling away.
If anyone understands what I mean please respond. Thanks

Hello and welcome! I too, have little 'niggles' around the pacemaker implant area. I totally agree with JB above. Just keep an eye on things, and don't be afraid to contact your doctor/clinic.

Kind regards, x

Stange Feelings

Hey Ddi57,

Welcome to the Pacemaker Club.

Yes I have periodically had some strange, or at least new, little pains in the pacemaker implant area. I think you will find that many of the members here have run into the same thing.

Your pain could be from a lead but I think that is a remote possibility. I think you named it when you said could it have to do with the nerves running throughout body. With the surgery necessary to implant a pacemaker many nerves be disturbed and one or more of them recuperating could be what you are feeling. As I said I had many strange little pains or in some cases sensation after my pacemaker was implanted and it took several months for them to stop. But they all did go away after 5 or 6 months.

Of course if think what you feel may involve a lead, or it becomes frequent and bothersome enough to be a big enough concern your should see your doctor.

Good luck

Yep, they are real

Welcome and yes, those little stings, tingles are real. You get used to most of them and if something is wrong, you will know. My PM is now over a year old and I still have little pinches and my scar itches sometimes. The advantages of the device outweigh the little things. God bless you!

little stings..

hey there,
I had my PM implant in 04/10, and felt the exact same pinching feeling around the incision, my doctor told me its the stitches, and once they completely dissolve the stinging feeling will go away, and true to his word, I feel it less and less as time goes by.
So, hang in there, its all OK.

You know you're wired when...

You can feel your fingers and toes again.
