There is nothing about having a pm that prevents us from using saunas. Your underlying condition, the reason why you needed the pm to begin with, might make it a bad idea.

I find my heart rate goes up too high too quickly and it's very uncomfortable, so I stick with the hot tub.

I agree with both of the above. It depends a lot on how your body handles heat. I tend to be the other way around. A hot tub or sauna tends to lower my BP. Add a glass of wine and it really drops.

I'm going to have to issue my usual warning though: your doctor likely doesn't have a clue unless he/she belongs to a health club. With maybe one exception every doctor I have seen tells me that the hot tub will raise my BP, even if I take readings in to him. Interesting though, I have never been warned about living in the desert where it is over 100 most of the summer.

Just make sure that you dont do it alone. I tend not to go into the sauna or steam room at my gym if there is no one else in there.

All the advice is good and solid.

Having a PM alone is no reason to avoid the sauna, hot tub or steam room.

Its the other underlying conditions that do go well with these facilities. For me, these are prohibited activities due to blood pressure issues and afib issues. In particular, my condition don't handle heat well. Symptoms are dizziness, feeling of fainting, fast heart rate, afib episodes triggered.

Have fun if you can.
