Snowboarding??

In two days I will have had my PM for 8 months. I just booked a trip to Colorado with my husband and some close friends, and would really love to go snowboarding with everyone. Does anyone know if this safe? Or more specifically has anyone actually been with a PM? I live in Alabama, and only go once a year. So I am by no means an expert, but I do enjoy going. And would be sad to give it up. If anyone could shed some light on the situation, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks in advance, Anna

Snowboarding

You need to ask your physician if it too soon to snowboard.
I have had my PM for the last six years and I have being skiing in Colorado for the last 5 years with no problems. There is no reason that you would have to give up snowboarding.

Hi Anna, Sounds like real fun which you truly deserve. Probably should check with your Dr. Just to keep him happy, you know how they want authority. Hey, how about your pooches?? Poor Doggies for a little while!! Just enjoy, it'll build lots of confidence in your mind which is a big bonus to your general health. BUT, you gotta bring back the proof and post it in our member gallery. Have Fun! donb

As long as you've generally been active in the last few months then boarding shouldn't present any special problems. I'm just getting ready for my 8th season skiing with my PM.

was skiing in 3 months

Hi, Received my PM in September and have been skiing since December. Have had no problems at all other than hr racing for longer than I would expect after fast non-stop runs. That may just be that an adjustment to my settings may be required.
Get out and enjoy!!!

Enjoy it

My only suggestion is to avoid the real aggressive type of boarding where an accident could be serious. A moderate fall on the snow board isn't likely to be any more of a problem than falling at home.

Thanks! And I did it!

Thank you so much for all of your feedback. I went snowboarding today at Copper today and did great!! Hardly fell at all. Took it easy, and had a great time. My biggest problem was catching my breath. Thanks again for the advice I most likely wouldn't have gone without it.

There is a product out on the market specifically for pacemaker protection. It's called Paceguard. It has been used for sports or other daily activities, Their website is www.paceguard.com. I know people who have used this and have had great results. Good luck

So, my advice is to go about your daily routine and forget that you have a pacemaker implanted in your body.
