Chest Pain?

Hello! Looking for advice. I have had my PM since Feb'10. A few months later my EP found another arrythmia so I take 75 mg of Flecainide 2x day. I went to the ER last wed. For chest pain. Was admitted for testing. After a nuclear stress test one of the DR's came in and said it was possitive and consulted with my cardiologist. He then came later and said since I had a negative cardiac cath 4 month's ago he does not think there is blockage and the other DR over read the results. My PM was checked and is fine, I do not have high blood pressure, it typically low. He sent me home and told me to follow up with him in 2 weeks. He said he did not feel the chest pains were heart related. I came home on Friday night. Sat stii had chest pains, and toward the end of the day would get light headed. I layed down and still felt dizzy. I'm trying to go about my normal activities but find when I take my blood pressure while being active it is low and by pulse is up ie: 94/58-114. Any suggestion/experiences with this?

Suggestion

My suggestion is get another opinion ASAP. Some of the symptoms you have listed can be from the side effects of Flecainide. (See below.) Also, a BP of 94/58 can cause aome of the symptoms you name in some people, especially when they go from sitting to standing. If you have told your doctor of your problems and he has not responded then I think you certainly need to aee another doctor.

"Possible Side Effects OF Flecainide: SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include stomach discomfort, dizziness, headache, or blurred vision. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience tremors, seizures, lightheadedness, irregular heartbeat, or fast or slow heartbeat."

Thanks for the quick advice!

JB, thank you for such a quick response! I have been on Flecainide for about 3 mo. We started at 50 mg 2x but it did not improve the arrhythmia. He increased the dose about a month ago which would be enough time for the full effects of the meds and could certainty explain some of my symptoms. My EP has been conservative and fully explained the risk of the drug. I just tried to go grocery shopping and had to leave. I'm going to follow up with my EP & Cardiologist in the AM to discuss my continuing symptoms. Thanks again!
