I may have the answer!

Hi. I think I may have discovered the reason for my low blood pressure (85/50). It occured to me today that my blood pressure dropped as soon as I'd had my ablation 18 days ago. Also, the dizziness started then. And I was put on Colperdogil
straight after my ablation! It's an anti-platelet drug as I'm allergic to aspirin. Well, today I've been researching the side effects of this drug & they include lowering of blood pressure, dizziness & fatigue!! I have been exhausted this week, in addition to the low blood pressure & dizziness. I'm on this drug for 6 weeks & I've never taken it before.

Has anyone else been on Colperdogil (Plavix) & what side effects did you get?

I can put up with the side effects (if the drug is indeed causing these symptoms in me) for the remaining weeks...I really DON'T want any blood clots forming!!

This has not answered my query about why my heart rate does not increase on exertion...but I may have solved my other problem/query!

Plavix Will Cause Problems

Hi Janey,

The first time I took Plavix was after I got a stent and about three or four day later I developed a headache from hell. A couple of days later that my wife noticed I was slurring my words more than usual and carried me to the doctor. He had me get a CT scan and then said I had experienced a mini-stroke which was probably caused by the Plavix and stopped it immediately. There were no other effects frrm the mini-stroke and my speech returned to normal in about 3 or 4 weeks.

About 3 years later I had another stent implant from a different doctor. This Dr did not believe hell was hot and insisted that I take Plavix for 90 days in spite of my past experience. Less than 48 hours later I looked like I had the measles over the lower half of my body. Again I was told to stop the Plavix immediately and I was given a 10 day prednisone (steroid) dose pack. Plavix was replaced with Ticlid which wasn't a problem.

My opinion is that Plavix is a rip-off for two reasons. One, I don't trust any medicine that is one size (75mg) fits all when people are not all the same size. Looks to me like some people may be over treated and some may be under treated. My second reason is that even their TV commercials say "Plavix, when taken in conjunction with aspirin will prevent the platelets from doing so and so----." If Plavix is so good why does it need help?

I have never experienced the low BP problm but I have never taken it for more than a week or so.

I took myself off of that crap when I had my first stent done 10 yrs ago.....dizziness was spupreme and I wasnt going to live like that
