Great news today!

Hi all. I have great news today! I went to the hospital this afternoon for my ECG. Just as the arrhythmia nurse was coming to look at it, the Senior Registrar who looks after me with my EP happened to be walking past & saw me waiting. He came over to ask how I was after the ablation. So I told him about my symptoms & he arranged an urgent treadmill/exercise test there & then! I was on the treadmill within 5 minutes!

The Senior Reg then came to look at my ECG & treadmill results & he said they were all fine. He even said my arrhythmia is no longer showing up on the treadmill results....before my ablation it was always showing up. Now it has gone! Fantastic!

He said he thinks my symptoms are all due to my low BP & he recommends I try drinking more water to start with as this might help bring it up. If it continues to stay low & I still get symptoms, he said they will see me at the hospital sooner than my appt in November with my EP.

He said it is a shame they have solved my arrhythmia problem & now I have a low BP problem. He said he doesn't think the ablation would have caused the low BP problem, he is not sure what has caused it. But at least my arrhythmia has gone!

It was just so lucky this Dr was just walking past at the right time, when I was there!

I returned to work today. It was ok. I am still upset about the fact they threatened to dismiss me but I'm glad I'm back there & hopefully they will leave me alone now! I hope so!

Does anyone else have low BP? Any tips to help improve it & stop the dizziness? Please let me know.

Thanks so much for everyone's continuing help & support, I do appreciate it very much.

Best wishes
Janey

Tips

Hi Janey,

I also have low BP and have learned to deal with it for the most part by changing my diet. Increasing your water intake helps increase your blood volume, which in theory should help your BP come up. You could also increase your salt intake. I love the taste of salt so this is not an issue for me, but my Doc (at one point) had me on salt tablets that you can get from any pharmacy.

Now I know this next part sounds counterintuitive because when you have a tachycardia you avoid it like the plague... but a cup of coffee in the morning really helps my BP come up a bit. My Doctor knows I drink a cup a day and agrees that it does help alleviate some of the symptoms I feel from the low BP.

And lastly, as I am sure you have been told, just try to move around a bit slower until your body gets used to the new BP. I have symptoms daily, it seems, but they are really easy to ignore and almost tolerable at this point, it is just how I feel at times. I hope you start to have some relief! I know how frustrating it is when it happens all of the sudden and you dont know what to do to fix it.

Well wishes your way,

Bryna
