To Pookie + Update

Hi all & Happy New Year

Dear Pookie- Just wanted to say thank you for posting the excellent article on Vaso-Vagal Reflex, Neurocardiogenic Syncope a few days ago. I saw my EP on Dec 17th & although my Tilt Test was negative, he told me he thinks I have a problem with low BP & he wants me to drink 2-3 litres of water a day plus increase the salt in my diet. So when I read your article....wow....it all made sense to me. It says in it about drinking the water & increasing salt. I haven't got a specific diagnosis yet, waiting to have the 24 hour BP monitor on Jan 26th. Plus my EP wants to see if the water & salt stops my terrible dizziness. He also mentioned Isotonic drinks, although I had no idea what they were & had to ask him.

I've also been getting abnormal rhythms & chest pain again & my EP wants me to wear an ECG event recorder for a week in Feb....to try & record the symptoms etc. He said if my arrhythmia is returning, he may have to do a further ablation.
He thinks the abnormal rhythms & chest pain are a seperate issue to the dizziness/low BP problem. I've got 2 things going on.

Just wanted to update you all & say thank you Pookie for the excellent article. I've read other articles you have posted in the past & they are always SO good..thank you.

Best wishes
Janey

I'm so very glad to hear that you will get to wear a Holter (or Event) Monitor....that should show your EP exactly why or what is going on.

Again, just curious, but have you discussed Junctional Rhythm with your EP???

That is what I ended up having for ALL of those years and now that my Optimization feature is OFF, I have my life back:)

It's worth mentioning to him/her, don't you think?

That's why I love this site SO much...because sometimes we end up helping or even solving another person's issue by suggesting things that the PM member can discuss with their doctor(s).

Hi Janey:)

You're welcome regarding the article I posted.

The reason I post a certain article from time to time is I went through pure heck and a lot of depression for the 1st 5 & a half years of having my pacemaker and only this past April did they finally figure out my problem, which was ONE little setting which (for me) should have been OFF, but most people do perfectly fine with it ON. The setting I am referring to is Optimization which is part of the Rate Response feature.

I came here every day for 5 yrs searching and asking questions because I felt so bad...to the point that I wanted my pacemaker out and I found a cardiologist who was willing to do it for me!!! But thank goodness, my problem was fixed in time and I finally got my life back.

So, I am sure that I might "bug" or bother some of the members when I repost some of my articles, but really my reposted articles are for the "newbies" because I feel that IF I can help just one person then I've done something good for another human being:)

Now, I have to ask you a question...what the heck is an Isotonic drink??? I suppose I could google it.

And just curious...have you tried wearing compression stalkings? They really do help.

Take care and keep us posted.

I just want to share about the quality of life after my pacemaker, and hopefully increase awareness that lifestyles do not have to be drastically modified just because we are pacemaker recipients.
