Pacemaker surgery

I'm going back into the hospital this Wednesday 9/16/09, for a second lead and dual chamber pacemaker implant. They might also ablate my AV node, but I'm not certain on that yet. I don't really care what they do just as long as I end up feeling better. It's been 1 year and one month today 8/14/08 since I received my first pacemaker. Since then I've had two more ablations to fix continous atrial flutter, and have been DC cardioverted twice. Now I'm in and out of junctional rhythms with varying degrees of block. Hopefully this will be it, and I can get on with my life. I'll let ya'll know how it goes.

I hope that I can still attend the Hearbeat International Fundraiser event, because I've been looking forward to this for quite some time. Wish me luck.....and hopefully see some of you next week (gosh, hard to believe that it's NEXT week- WOW)

Hey Angelie,
You will be in my thoughts. All these surgeries are a pain and we all seem to somewhat understand how you feel in a little way. I hope your recovery is fast and things are a breeze for you.
You my dear are in my prayers and thoughts!

Angelie - tried to send you a private message and couldn't. The error indicated that you were an invalid user. Is your profile up to date? I did send you a message to the email on our "Pacer Chicks" email thread. Again - best of luck !

I went straight to a bi-ventricular pacemaker, so I don't have experience with getting an "upgrade." I did have my av node ablated last December and haven't had a rhythym problem since. I'm still fluttering away, but there aren't any symptoms to go along with it. If it gets to that point for you (mine was a last resort decision), then I say go for it. You've had such a problem getting your rhythm under control! Altough it's not the most desirable option, it may turn out to be the best one for you. Keep us posted.

Wishes for a fast recovery and loads of fun at the fundraiser!

When I had my single lead pacer upgraded to a dual chamber device many years back, the difference was incredible. I hope you have the same result.

All the best and hopefully you are able to attend the social in Tampa.

Get well soon!

My goodness Pacer Chick girlfriend! I took a couple days off and I return to see you are upgrading!

I sure hope everything goes well. I have a dual lead pacer and it made a huge difference in how I feel. It was like night and day.

I am praying you can make it to Tampa, as we Pacer Chicks promise to take good care of you! Lots of rest, relaxation and some sunshine.

Be well, blessings to you,
Pacergirl
