Vibrations in chest

Has anybody ever had this experience with the icd pacer.
I have a St. Judes V268 dual chamber icd.
I started feeling this vibration feeling in my arm, and under my arm to the pacer. I was sitting at a desk using a computer when I started feeling this sensation. The left arm was up on the desk when I first noticed this sensation, It felt like a cellphone was on vibrate and it was vibratining at the pacer site and radiated to my elbow. Sorta like a humming feeling and sensation. It lasted several hours. At first I thought it was my imagionation., Then , my husband felt it and confirmed it wasnt all in my head. I did go to the ER, and ended up being admitted and stayed 2 days while they tried to figure out what was up and there was a real problem with my icd device.
The St Judes Rep came and checked it, and everything seem to be in order, in fact it never registred that it had done that vibrations thing. ?? Does anybody know what this was ? and Has anybody ever experienced it?? HELP .. Its just so confusing. and something to worry about that I dont need to.

Vibrations

I have had the thing a couple of times. I do not know what it is either. I have a St. Judes also. I am waiting to speak with my Interrogator person in August. Mine has only happened a couple of times and they can not seem to understand mine either. When I go in they can not find anything wrong. I hope you find out what it is. If you do could you please send me a message or post it? Thanks and good luck!

I will say a prayer for a quick decision and no other problems.

Don't worry

About a year ago, I had not only vibrations, but the muscle on my PM just pulsated in rythm with my heart.
To make a long story short, in the Clinic where they put the PM said it was not uncommon: a nerve "couples" with one of the leads.
They solved it changing the polarity of the lead.
Bye and all the best

I was on here to ask about the same type of sensation. It is not a bothersome thing really. no pain or anything. But I do feel the mini vibrations. Now I know I am not alone. I will be talking to my cardiologist (he loves to answer questions and offers a sort of contest to see how many each patient can ask. (101 is the highest at one time). My pm is just under 2 years and this just started a week or so ago. When I fine out, I will be glad to share. Ann

Thanks Ann, Glad I am not alone also. My pm is 3 years old nov 06, I had mine put in at the Cleveland Clinic. I go in Aug to get this checked out.
Did u notice that other comments about the polarity of the icd in the above comments.

One of the techs from the st judes 1800# , said , it could be electrical interfereance of some sort in the building I work in. Like a lot of computers and wireless networking causing interfereance. Guess, since its man made they just cant pinpoint exactly. Personally, its working still so thats the important part. Let me know what you find out too.

Vibrations Can Indicate Need for Battery Replacement

by hlamb - 2011-03-04 10:03:42

I have a St. Jude ICD V-365. Several days ago I woke up at 5am with a humming vibration coming from my ICD. It lasted for about 2 seconds twice in succession. Did not pay too much attention to it. It happened again at dinner and, unfortunately, my wife heard it and off to the ER we went! After 5 hours and many tests I was told to contact my cardiologist the next day since they could find nothing wrong. When my device was tested, a pop-up on the computer screen said I was ready for a battery replacement. I was very unhappy they did not warn me about these vibrations. It would have saved me a trip to the ER.

Vibrations update?

by maggiemc7 - 2012-08-06 03:08:02

Hi! Has anyone else gotten any more information on the vibration issue? My St Jude PM is the second I've had, the forst lasting 10 years with no issues. This second device is 5 yrs old, and this is the second time in three months that I am experiencing this cell phone-like vibrations at the PM site/breast area. The Dr and St Jude techs both discounted any issue when I went in three months ago, but it is alarming and most definately not my imagination. Any comments on this issue are truly welcome! :-)

vibrations update

Well, here I am commenting on my own post made a long time ago.
Seems like nobody ever did find out what the humming was and why it vibrated.
At my last ICD check apt. the rep says my battery is getting low and it appears that I had a break in the lead that must be causing it to lose all of its battery life.
Options: remove the lead , insert new one beside of it..
This is not a option for me in my opinion, if the wire comes dislodged it can float into the heart and cause damage., Just how dumb can that be.
Secondly, Battery change., woops they informed me or didnt totally tell the truth about this stupid thing.
They dont change the battery,, Heck no., they take out the entire thing and put in a new one. Even when I read up on this subject it didnt explain there would have to be a new device implanted., they made it sound like they just replaced the battery like you do in a watch. They must think that people are just plain stupid,..!!!! LOL..
Well, guess this will be my first Battery Change. ha ha . battery change, not hardly rip out the old in with the new. , fractured wiring cause my heart monitor reading to look like a person in a lie detector test. apparantly when I move around they go crazy., and its draining all of the juice out of my device. Oh and its not like my left shoulder was ever normal again, I read where they may want to put it in the other shoulder. I dont think I like that idea. , left shoulder messed up and so you want to mess up both of them. Do I sound a little upset over this mess. Yes .. would be the right guess.

Thank you

Hi all... I am a pretty worried partner, my fiance has only had a pacemaker since end of March 2013 and today he has had the vibration 3 times... we are both getting very worried but it was as you said - just like a mobile phone vibrating.. lasted for 8 seconds at most each time... can there really be no reason/no notification? I am unsure what pacemaker he had fitted, I think it is one of the new ones with 2 prongs/leads now... sorry to sound a bit thick but I am trying to do some research without scaring him further!
He has agreed to go to the hospital in the am and see his cardiology team, but wont go tonight :(

You know you're wired when...
