anxious

on my second pacemaker ( St Judes Medical)... fitted on 31st aug 07.. after first one which was a vititron. fitted in april 01
I have sick sinus syndrome.. Every so often i experience palpitations and discomfort but then can go months even a year without feeling anything from it at all..
For the past 2 weeks i have had palpitations and every so often more powerful sensations deeper in my chest.. no pain but discomfort and anxiety.. which maybe caused by my being scared, as i have never gotten used to this.
I take 40 mg twice a day of Propanalol beta blockers.. which were to try and even out my anxiety and raised pulse rate.. which i think was down to me feeling uneasy everytime i felt any sensation at all.
Does anyone else experience episodes like these.. I dont get dizzy all that often but can occur sometimes.
The technicians and doctors always tell me to calm down, even when i go for my check ups every six months my pulse is up and i feel anxious.

sorry cant come up with any answers for you, but i do think that anxiety can cause all sorts of problems for us. Yoga is a great way to help us to relax. Hope you get sorted soon.

I have anxiety disorder and a PM. I know what you are going through. You need to find a way to relax and get used to the PM. I am not used to it yet, only had for about 5 months. I try to put myself in a good place, like yoga and other relaxation techniques teach you. When you are having these moments try to play some music or try some type of distraction. As the time goes by and you keep distracting yourself you may feel better. If this does not work. I know it has been a while, you may need to seek more medical help with medications to take your mind off of it. You need to realize it is for the good. I make a joke out of mine and don't heistate to speak about it, like in this message forum. You will find peace when what ever is troubling you with it finds peace. I will say a prayer for you.

Hope you find comfort soon. We are with you always.

God Bless

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
