tired

II have not posted for a while. I received my pm on 7/7/10 and posted a message about still not feeling very good after 2 months. I have tried to be patient and still do not feel normal. I am having more pvcs and palpitations. I am being treated with cipro for a kidney infection and don't know if this is causing my problem I seem to feel my heaetbeat in other parts of my body like my side and throat. I am so nervous.

I am sorry you are still having problems. Sometimes it takes many adjustments to your pacemaker to feel better. Also some medications can cause heart palpitations. You should call your doctor and go back in. Keep bothering them until you feel better! Hope things improve soon!!

I agree

When I first had my original pacemaker implanted, it took over 6 months and repeated visits until the settings were finally where I felt right. Even now, on my second PM, it took about three visits after implantation, to set it up ideally.

I don't know what is causing you to still feel unwell, and clearly the kidney and medication problems could be a factor, but I just wanted to assure you that the PM may not be set up exactly the best way for you yet: they are usually set up to a factory 'default' setting initially. I would strongly recommend you tell your doctor that you're feeling very unwell and go back to get it checked out.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on.

I totally agree with the first 2 posts as it took my "team" of specialists to finally figure out why I felt so bad for 5 years. I knew in my heart (no pun intended) that it was in the settings and low and behold it was - it was the Optimization which was ON (and being ON is good for most people) however for me turning it OFF gave me my life back.

I was experiencing profound fatigue and shortness of breath and my biggest problem was my heart would thump & pound very hard (but not fast) sometimes for hours on end.

When the Optimization setting was turned OFF all of the above disappeared. Optimization is part of the Rate Response feature.

Just something you might want to discuss with whoever "tweaks" your pacer.

Good luck

So sorry you are still feeling those episodes. I was feeling them in my throat also for quite some time after my PM was implanted. (I still do on occasion) It took a good 5 months for my meds to level out.
Also, I am extremely sensitive to caffeine so I try to stay away from it all together.
Hope each day is better for you.

It is just over 10 years since a dual lead device was implanted for complete heart block. It has worked perfectly and I have traveled well near two million miles internationally since then.
